My writing life began with my computer career, and that began with business consulting and teaching software applications. When Lotus 1-2-3 came along, I was given the chance to start writing course materials. That led to more tech writing, freelancing, fiction, and the Internet. For almost 2 years, I was the Writers' Exchange Guide for About.com. That was my first experience in building an online community. I reviewed hundreds of writing sites, started a newsletter, message board, email group, and published over 60 articles. My celebrity chats featured several famous authors, including Dr. David Reuben (Everthing you always wanted to know about sex) and Susan Wittig Albert (the China Bayles mystery series). My printed articles have been published by Economics Press and Webbound. My novel, Hitting 50!, was published by Broken Tree Books. I now spend my time developing and marketing web sites, writing articles, searching for the best sites to link to, fielding email and forum questions, and researching links for my subscribers. One of my current projects is Love Your Pet Expo. I designed the website and became marketing director, taking the site from somewhere off the radar to #1 on Google in 4 months. That was expected to be a short-term project, but the show was such a success, I am now their permanent webmaster. AffordableRedding.com is my first project on a regional level. It showcases real estate properties in the Redding, California area, while helping to promote local businesses with links and free web pages. Marketing Country
Naturals has been a challenge because it covers so many topics,
so I spun off 2 of the most popular to become Butterfly-Moth.com
and My next project will be Build-Smart-Credit.com, to help those with bad credit or no credit become savvy about personal finance. On a personal level, I am a happily-married grandmother, living on the Oregon Coast. I love to photograph butterflies, work in the garden, knit, and play with the 9 cats we've rescued over the years. |
