SPIDER SOLITAIRE "SWAPPING" PAGE

This is the most complex technique I know. It'is similar to borrowing, but it needs 2 holes. It's used when you want to line up cards from 2 piles, when each pile has 2 sets of unsuited cards underneath. Even then, you need help from the cards. Without a friendly run in another pile, you're outta luck anyway.

In this example, our goal is to get the 7/8 of spades (column 8) over to the 9 of spades (column 6). Both piles have hearts and clubs underneath, with no place to borrow from. Luckily, we have 2 holes to work with and a friendly run of diamonds nearby.

• Put the 4 of clubs in one hole.
• Put the 6 of hearts in the other hole.
• Put the 6 of diamonds on the 7 of spades.
• Put the 6 of hearts on the 7 of diamonds.
• Put the 4 of clubs on the 5 of hearts. (Now you're set up for a classic spider maneuver.)

• Put the 7 of clubs in one hole.
• Put the 8 of hearts in the other hole.
• Put the 7 of clubs on the 8 of hearts.
• Put the 6 of diamonds in the hole.
• Put the 8 of spades on the 9 of spades--VOILA! Mission accomplished.

Now it's time to clean up your mess--put back the diamonds back together. That takes another 7 moves <sigh> but you can do that on your own.
